Not only does he give you great insights into the mind of your dog, he shows you how to get in touch with yourself and your own emotions. I never thought that my dogs could sense my moods and emotions let alone act out directly because of them! I will definately be reading more of Cesar's books! Both Insightful and Vague Although I think Cesar Milan is absolutely BRILLIANT with dogs, I don't think he is as brilliant at conveying instructions for how to become better with dogs in writing. After reading the entire book I came away with a solid understanding that it is important to be the pack leader and you establish that role by being calm-assertive, but I do not have a clear notion of how to achieve that. I was also hoping for more clear-cut instructions on how to train a dog for ordinary day-to-day requirements. His stories were touching and the improvements that the dogs and owners made were truly remarkable, but I didn't feel that the book explained very well how to do that for yourself without Cesar's presence and guidance. The very best "how to" part of the book was the last four pages where he outlined exactly how to handle answering your door when a stranger knocks, how to introduce your dog to another person, et al. I would have LOVED to read some more instructions similar to those! With all that being said, however, I will definitely read more of Cesar's books to glean as much information from them as I can. Okay I was hoping for more with this book. It was a good read, but I was looking for more instruction instead of his life story. Excellent reading to help your pets I bought this to help raise our puppy the correct way. The book is extremely easy to read and understand. It has helped. Transformed "my pack" I absolutely love Ceasar Milan! I watch the show all the time and when my fiance moved in with his dog and our house was turned upside down, I figured "why not give it a shot". I got the book and it was great. The book was well written and an easy read. He covers many common issues that dog owners encounter, gives reasons for the problems and offers simple, straighforward solutions. After reading the book I felt confident about how to handle the situations. I also purchased Ceasar's Way which I am currenly reading (sidenote: Ceasar's Way is the first book, Be the Pack Leader was the second). My fiance read Ceasar's Way and was suddenly enlightened! These books have literally changed my household. Instead of coming home to a crazy dog and getting frustrated, I come home and do the routine that the dog, my fiance and I have set up to benefit all of us. I HIGHLY recommend both books! Both you AND the rest of your "pack" read it so you are all on the same page and you are guaranteed to see a change.
